A massive cannabis farm was found during police raids on a former funeral parlour.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police uncovered the huge grow when the put the doors in on the building on Thursday December 5.

Hidden inside the rooms of the undertakers were hundreds of cannabis plants that have now been removed and destroyed by police.

Police said that fully grown plants filled two rooms of the building, in Leigh, along with a drying room and bags and tubs of cannabis waiting to be taken out and sold.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police also posted a picture of the farm on the GMP Leigh, Atherton & Hindley Facebook page.

It shows a significant number of plants, inside a room, that also included large lamps.

Officers described the discovery as a "fabulous find".

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Another fabulous find by the neighbourhood team of Tyldesley.

"The warrant was executed Thursday 5th December by Atherton/Tyldesley /Astley Neighbourhood team, alongside our Divisional Tasking Team.

"The building used to be a funeral parlour years ago, there were two large rooms upstairs full of fully grown cannabis plants, a drying room whereby bud was already hung up, 2 x nurseries and bags and large tubs of bud waiting to hit the streets to be sold."
