A massive cannabis farm was discovered at a flat above an empty shop.
More than 400 plants were found in the property on Linacre Road in Litherland last night (Thursday) after police executed a warrant.
A strong smell of cannabis prompted officers who were patrolling the area to check the unused shop.

Some 458 plants sprawled across five rooms were dismantled by Matrix's cannabis dismantling team (CDT), who also made the area safe.
Matt Brown, who heads the CDT, said: “This was a large-scale farm, bringing with it significant risks of fire, flood and violent crime.
"Thanks to the officers sniffing out the location, the streets of Litherland are a safer place to be. Key is information from those communities, so if you suspect you are living near to a death-trap, let us know.
“Be aware of some of the signs of cannabis growth, and we’ll do the rest.”
Some of the signs that cannabis is being grown are:
• Strange smells and sounds
• Frequent and varied visitors to a property, often at unusual times
• Gardening equipment being taken into a property, such as plant pots, fertiliser, fans and industrial lighting
• Windows are sealed and covered or the curtains are permanently closed
• Heat from an adjoining property
• Birds gathering on a roof in cold weather
• Individually these activities may seem commonplace, however, together may indicate something more suspicious
