Massive cannabis bust in old Valleys nightclub

A drugs raid at a former Rhondda nightclub revealed hundreds of cannabis plants growing inside.

South Wales Police made the discovery at the old Kit Cat club in Pentre on Thursday, September 19.

Officers stormed the building on Llewelyn Street, which has been derelict for years, before finding a large quantity of cannabis thought to be worth tens of thousands of pounds.

At the time of the raid, there was nobody at the old nightclub building.

However, officers later arrested three men, after an extensive search of the building, on suspicion of production of a Class B drug.

All three, aged 29, 30 and 39 are currently in custody.

The Kit Cat Club in Pentre was a popular destination for revellers in Rhondda but has remained boarded up and empty ever since it closed in the mid-nineties.
