Never ones for shirking a new genre-busting challenge, Massive Attack have been linked to two very different musical projects in the past few days: the first is a collaboration with Run the Jewels and the second is a Noel Gallagher remix EP.

While it is not yet confirmed whether or not the rap act’s paring with Massive Attack is a new album or an additional project, the duo announced that they were in the middle of recording with Robert Del Naja and Daddy G on Twitter. El-P confirmed that he was “in the studio with massive attack right now. so... no big deal or anything. not bragging a lot. just talking here”, and soon after Killer Mike posted an image of himself, El-P, and Massive Attack on Instagram with the caption, “#RTJ x @MassiveAttack. Get ready.”

Little else is known about the venture, but according to the below video, they appear to be seeking inspiration from Bruce Springsteen:

Elsewhere, the former Oasis musician has reportedly been in talks with Massive Attack for a possible remix EP of his forthcoming solo album Chasing Yesterday.

“Andy Weatherall has done one [remix] already,” Noel Gallagher told Q. “A guy who used to be in the Psychonauts called Pablo who goes under the name of Toy Drum, he’s done one. Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve have done something and I’m speaking to Massive Attack. There are a few things going on. There might be a remix EP coming out sooner or later. It’s all up in the air at the moment.”

Massive Attack’s last studio album was 2010’s Heligoland. In 2013, the group teamed up with film maker Adam Curtis at the Manchester international festival for a show billed as “a hybrid between a gig and a movie”. It featured a team including regular Massive Attack collaborators United Visual Artists, Punchdrunk’s Felix Barrett and stage designer Es Devlin.
