Massive Argentina World Cup Parade Cut Short by Overzealous Fans

If you thought the celebration for Lionel Messi and Argentina was done Sunday when the team defeated France in a back-and-forth World Cup Final, the celebratory parade was on an entirely different level.

Argentina claimed its third World Cup title and first since 1986 in a penalty-kick shootout while Messi won his first World Cup. With tons of excitement, the club returned to Buenos Aires in a celebration that was cut short due to millions of fans storming the streets, jumping off highway overpasses to get a glimpse and touch of the ’22 World Cup Champions.

Fans were spread all over the city with so much exhilaration that the players on the team were required to get on helicopters to ride over the parade in the country’s capital. Take a look.

While some fans waved flags in patriotic support and shouted “Messi” and “let’s go champion,” videos that surfaced showed others jumping on the team’s bus during the parade.

Argentina’s World Cup win was not only monumental for the team. The championship serves a positive mark in a country that has dealt with financial stability over the years and a nation in which four out of 10 people live in poverty.
