Massive Airbus Beluga cargo plane makes emergency landing in UK

One of the world's biggest cargo planes has landed in Wales after declaring a mid-air emergency this afternoon.

The Airbus Beluga jet was on its way to Hawarden, north Wales, from Hamburg, Germany.

The Beluga Tango Bravo put out a distress 'squawk' on its way to the Hawarden Aerodrome shortly after 2.30pm.

Emergency services rushed to the aerodrome as a precaution, North Wales Live reports.

However the plane landed safely.

An Airbus spokesman said: "Beluga Tango Bravo experienced an in-flight anomaly on its way to Hawarden Aerodrome from Hamburg.

"An emergency was declared at the airport in line with standard procedures. The aircraft landed safely at 15.30 and is currently being inspected."
