Massive €2.8million cocaine seizure made by gardai in Donegal

A massive haul of cocaine thought to be worth €2.8million has been seized by gardai today.

Officers from the Milford District Drugs Unit in Donegal carried out an intelligence-led operation and seized and examined a vehicle, which led to the huge find.

The seizure includes 41kg of a substance believed to be cocaine.

Investigating gardai are in touch with the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the PSNI over the haul.

Superintendent David Kelly, of Milford, who was leading the investigation, said today: "This significant seizure has reduced the supply of illegal drugs in our community, thereby increasing community safety."

The find comes one month after Revenue Customs officers found €12m worth of cocaine on freight from South America in Cork.
