Massimiliano Allegri 'taking English lessons' amid links to Chelsea manager job

Massimiliano Allegri is taking English lessons in anticipation of making a managerial move to the Premier League.

The Italian coach called time on his five-year spell with Juventus at the end of last season and is on the lookout for a new role.

Allegri has made no secret of his desire to move to England and Chelsea are believed to be a club who appeal to him.

And, according to The Sun , the 51-year-old is brushing up on his English in the hope that the Blues come calling.

Current Stamford Bridge boss Maurizio Sarri is the favourite to replace Allegri in Turin, though the Italians will have to meet his £5.3million release cause.

It’s also claimed that Allegri has spoken with close friend and ex-Chelsea manager Antonio Conte about making the switch to west London.

During his time with Juve, Allegri won five consecutive Serie A titles, the Coppa Italia four times and also finished runners-up in the Champions League twice.

He announced his departure last month and is currently enjoying a break at Disneyland Paris with his TV star partner Ambra Angiolini.

Derby boss Frank Lampard, the Blues legend, is also in the running to take charge should Sarri opt for a return to Italy.

But Allegri’s experience, given Lampard has just one year of management under his belt, could see Chelsea favour the Italian.

A source told The Sun: "Italians have a fascination with London and there has always been a strong link with Chelsea right back to the days of Gianluca Vialli and Gianfranco Zola.

“Allegri has managed two of the biggest clubs in Italy - Juventus and AC Milan but he wants a new challenge and the draw of the Premier League is of interest to him.”
