A masseur has appeared in court charged with 55 sexual offences relating to 14 women.
Terence McBrien, 72, from Alnwick, Northumberland, appeared before Berwick Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for a brief hearing.
He faces 55 offences, comprising one count of attempted rape, seven counts of sexual assault by penetration, 34 counts of sexual assault by touching, and 13 counts of voyeurism.
The charges relate to 14 women, Northumbria Police has previously said, and the allegations date between 2011 and 2021.
McBrien, who represented himself, walked past photographers and TV cameras outside court, wearing a tweed cap, jacket and tie.
He did not enter pleas during the hearing, which lasted less than 10 minutes.
He spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address, and said “Fully understood ma’am” when Chairman of the Bench, Wendy Brett, told him he was being granted conditional bail.
She told him he must next appear at Newcastle Crown Court on April 16 for a plea hearing.
