Massengo, O'Dowda, Martin - Bristol City predicted XI vs Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are back in Championship action on Tuesday evening when they take on Bristol City at Ashton Gate (7.45pm kick-off).

City currently sit in 11th position of the Championship table after four wins, four draws and four losses, while Forest are 16th, a couple of points behind their opponents.

The Robins faithful have not seen their team register a win on home turf in nine months, however, since their 2-1 triumph against Huddersfield on January 26.

Nigel Pearson's men are currently winless in 16 home games - an unwanted club record.

NottinghamshireLive takes a look at how the Robins could potentially line up, with the help of our colleagues at BristolLive, as Pearson aims to transform his side's poor run of results at Ashton Gate...

Goalkeeper

Goalkeeper and captain Daniel Bentley is expected to keep his place after featuring in all league games this season.

The 28-year-old put in a good performance against Bournemouth in their last outing, despite the 2-0 defeat.

The shot-stopper, however, has only managed one clean sheet in his 12 appearances this term, conceding 15 times.

Defence

George Tanner, Tomas Kalas and Nathan Baker are expected to retain their places at the back.

Pearson could, though, face a tough selection call between Tanner and Zak Vyner at right-back, as the latter could offer extra aggression which may be needed to stop the likes of Joe Lolley, Brennan Johnson and Alex Mighten.

Cameron Pring, who impressed in Bristol's 3-2 win against Peterborough but struggled against Bournemouth at the weekend, may be dropped to the bench, with Jay DaSilva tipped to get the nod at left-back.

Meanwhile, Rob Atkinson is expected to return from illness and may be available from the bench.

Midfield

The expected pair to start would be Joe Williams and Andy King but after both came off with knocks at the weekend, it is unclear whether they will be fit.

Matty James, however, would be an obvious choice, having played every minute this season and is expected to continue.

Han-Noah Massengo, who is closing in on a return to action, may earn a recall in the starting XI. But Tyreeq Bakinson would be a back-up option if neither Massengo or King are fit enough.

Bakinson was involved for 24 minutes against Bournemouth after being an unused substitute in the away clash against Peterborough.

Callum O'Dowda should be fit to feature in the starting XI despite coming off at the break at the weekend. Former Derby County man Andreas Weimann is likely to maintain his place after featuring the entire 90 minutes in all opening 12 league fixtures.

Attack

Another ex-Ram, Chris Martin, is expected to carry on leading the line after featuring in all league games thus far.

Martin has scored four goals in 12 outings to date.

Predicted Bristol City XI (4-2-3-1): Bentley; Tanner, Kalas, Baker, Dasilva; James, King; Massengo, Weimann, O'Dowda; Martin.
