Massage while you work: Office staff's rapid relief

Two Grimsby companies have formed a pioneering partnership to ease office aches and improve the work environment.

Expanding Rapid Travel Group has partnered with Adele Health and Beauty to offer employees regular massages in the workplace.

It is aimed at supporting staff who deliver a 24/7 service to customers from the enlarged head office at Laceby Business Park.

Rebecca Anderson-Smith, relationship director at Rapid, said: “In an increasingly busy business environment it is vital to ensure that employees have access to resources which support and reduce their stress levels in order to help keep productivity at the highest possible levels. People are a company’s greatest asset and it is important that they are happy and healthy.

“We are grateful to have Adele on board as we aim to support employees well-being and productivity.”

The business travel specialist sorts accommodation and transport for companies, bringing expertise and scale to help improve bottom lines for essential overnight stays and journeys.

It has grown significantly under the stewardship of Miss Anderson-Smith, her mother Linda Anderson-Smith and fellow director Karl Hedison, riding the wave of the offshore wind influx.

Nationally more than half a million workers suffer from work related stress, depression or anxiety – new or long standing – accounting for 57 per cent of the total number of lost working days.

The treatment is a fully clothed massage performed in a chair specifically designed for massage. Described as calming and relaxing, it concentrates on the upper back, shoulders and scalp.

Adele Hanton, who has an independent beauty room in Victoria Street, said: “As a local business, it’s great to partner with other local businesses – an initiative I feel passionately about as the benefits of massage are extensive, improving muscular pain, circulatory relief and above all improving stress reduction - creating a sense of relaxation and well being.

“People spend more hours at work so to bring positive effects of massage therapy on the job, improving performance and mental alertness, can only reap benefits to employees and their employer.

“Working locally to support wellbeing and charities is something I feel passionately about, also working with Glebe House to sprinkle some cheer and pamper residents with a manicure is something that I do regularly also.”
