Mass rescue in Glass House Mountains

Emergency services have rescued 16 people who became stuck on Mount Tibrogargan, north of Brisbane.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said the climbers were all experienced but ran into trouble at 5:30am, when the path at Chicken Rock became too slippery in the rain.

Multiple crews, including the fire service and paramedics, helped with the rescue.

All in the group were abseiled down to safety by about 11:30am.

There have been no reported injuries.

While the mountain, which is one of the Glass House Mountains, is only 364 metres high, Queensland's Parks and Wildlife Service warns it is a challenging and potentially dangerous rock face, that brings a risk of severe injury or even death.
