Mass brawl erupts as 20 teens fight and 'throw food' in street

A large group of youths who gathered in the centre of Crosby began fighting and causing a general nuisance.

They congregated yesterday evening (Wednesday) outside Mojo's café and the Birkey pub in Cooks Road.

An eyewitness to the scene posted on social media: "There were about 30 kids, all no older than 15 just causing general trouble. Swearing, shouting, abusing people, throwing takeaway food round etc.

"I spoke to the man in the shop after they all disappeared when the police arrived and he said it's getting worse and worse, the kids are going out with the intention of causing trouble.

"I've lived in Crosby since I was born (27 years) and I'm ashamed at how downhill and rough it's gone. I know it's hard to pin point them all the time as parents but it's happening all the time now and there needs to be some sort of control and pride in our once lovely little town."

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "At around 7pm on Wednesday August 18, we received a report of a group of youths gathering on Cooks Road, Crosby.

"It was reported that youths were fighting and causing a nuisance outside Mojo's café and the Birkey pub..

"Patrols attended and a group of around 20 youths were dispersed.

"No injuries were reported."
