When people think of Bristol, the image of balloons flying over Ashton Court and over the suspension bridge is one which often springs to mind.
But this year the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare is looking to compete with Bristol Balloon Fiesta, by hosting a mass ascent from the beach.
The 'Balloons on the Beach' spectacle will form part of the popular Weston Air Festival - which sees thousands of spectators flock to the North Somerset town to watch air displays from the likes of the Red Arrows.
Sponsored by Renishaw and organised by Exclusive Balloon Events, Balloons on the Beach will be the largest hot air balloon mass ascent to take place from the sands.

It will see up to 30 hot air balloons launch from Weston seafront at dusk, following the spectacular air display programme.
Leisure manager at North Somerset Council Russ Currie said: “It’s events like the air festival that firmly place North Somerset on the map and make it a great place to live and visit.
"With brilliant editions to the programme like Balloons on the Beach we have no doubt the 2019 event will continue to position North Somerset as a destination of choice.”
When is the festival?
Weston Air Festival is free to attend and will take place on June 22 and 23.

It sees a whole host of family-friendly fun along the seafront and Beach Lawns and incorporates the town’s Armed Forces Day celebrations.
The event village will feature exhibition stands, food stalls, family activities and fairgrounds, as well as the chance to meet RAF crews up close and personal, ensuring there’s plenty to see and do at ground level.
