'Roof' collapses at Perth's The Venue pub as Storm Ciara rages across Scotland

A popular Perth pub has had to close after masonry was seen to fall from the top of the building.

The Venue in St John Street made the announcement on Saturday evening and said the temporary closure is due to structural damage.

Storm Ciara is currently blowing its way across Scotland with many areas affected by high winds and heavy rain although there is no information at present on whether this stonework collapse is weather related.

A spokesperson for The Venue posted: “Due to unforeseen circumstances The Venue has been closed until further notice we apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.

"Rumours have escalated just to clarify. There have been no injuries and no deaths. Thanks for everyone's concern we will keep you posted."

Fire crews are currently in attendance in Perth.
