Mason Mount sets huge target for his debut season at Chelsea under Frank Lampard

Mason Mount says that he's hoping to win some silverware in his debut season for Chelsea.

The young midfielder has been a revelation since linking up with Frank Lampard in west London after a successful loan spell at Derby County.

This has seen him become a regular with the Blues and a feature of Gareth Southgate's senior England squad.

It's been quite a time for Mount and speaking to Sky Sports, he said that it's a bit surreal to be turning out for Chelsea.

He said: "It's been a crazy first couple of months.

"Sometimes it's quite strange on the training pitch or playing games looking across and seeing someone you've played with for so many years.

"Hopefully this year we can try to win a trophy and build on that in the next couple of years."

A big part of Mason Mount's success has been the faith shown in him by Frank Lampard, and Mount spoke of how much he's enjoying the experience.

He said: "You want to give that extra mile for him.

"Mentally you've got to be ready. It's a big step and just because you're a young player doing well it doesn't mean you're going to be ready for the first team. You've got to show the manager that you're ready.

"You hear all this stuff about there is not going to be another academy player coming through, but now look at it

"There are numerous players coming through. Now it has happened I'm focused on working hard and playing as many games as I can."
