Chelsea have announced their third signing of the week.
The Blues have added Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr and now Thiago Silva to their squad ahead of the new season.
The experienced centre-back has signed a one-year contract at Stamford Bridge with an option at the end of the season.
The three players join Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner as the summer arrivals at Chelsea so far with the Blues hopeful of securing the signing of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz within the coming days.
Frank Lampard will be hoping that the signing of Silva will help to resolve the defensive problems the team encountered during 2019/20, where they conceded 54 Premier League goals throughout the season.
The signing was met with jubilation from Chelsea fans, but it seems they weren’t the only ones happy with the new arrival.
Upon the announcement of the news, Blues midfielder Mason Mount took to Twitter to give his response to the signing.
A video of a fan singing the ‘Thiago Silva’ song by AJ Tracey and Dave at a festival went viral a few years ago, and the Chelsea man tweeted a clip of that video alongside the eyes and laughing emoji as well as tagging Chelsea’s official Twitter account.
The two will be able to play together in the first game of the Premier League season when Chelsea take on Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.
