Mason Mount has spoken about the key difference between Chelsea this season compared to last term.
The Blues have enjoyed a fine start to the season, currently sitting third and just two points off Tottenham and Liverpool at the top of the table.
On Saturday, Frank Lampard's men picked up their latest three points, stretching their unbeaten run to 12 games with a hard-fought victory over Newcastle United at St James' Park.
Federico Fernandez scored an own goal and Tammy Abraham rounded off the scoring to ensure Chelsea continued their good form in a tight encounter following a busy international break for Lampard's men.
Speaking about the win at St James' Park and how the Blues have evolved this season, Mount told the club's official website: "We know from last season how difficult it is to come here and get a result.
"With the way we’re playing at the moment, we can come to these places and feel confident in getting the result, whereas last season maybe we didn’t have that confidence.
"We’re building momentum but we can’t get too carried away. We just need to keep focusing on winning games, scoring goals and trying to keep as many clean sheets as we can."
The midfielder added: "You look back at some of those results where we dropped points and conceded easy goals but it feels like this season there’s been a bit of a change in that and in our mentality."
Mount has featured heavily for Chelsea again this season, remaining one of Lampard's favourites, racking up 13 appearances across all competitions, scoring once and assisting three.
The Chelsea midfielder also featured in all three England fixtures during the recent international break.
