Mason Mount fires title warning to Liverpool and Manchester City

Mason Mount insists Chelsea are still in with a ‘big chance’ of winning the title this season.

The west London club are currently six points behind league leaders Manchester City, and only goal difference separates them from the Reds in second.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have struggled for form in recent weeks, but bounced back from successive draws with a 3-1 win at Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

With the Premier League season now at the halfway stage, Mount is confident his side will be the team to beat in the second half of the campaign.

‘The title has always been our goal. We want to be up there. More than ever this season, we feel like we have a big chance. We can definitely do it,’ He told Chelsea's official website

‘We have the confidence. But we need to be humble and focused, too. We need to keep doing the basics well.’

Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat at Leicester on Tuesday means the trip to Chelsea in their next league games takes on an even greater significance.

City play twice before their title rivals face each other on January 2, and could be a whopping 12 points clear by the time they kick off in west London.

If Pep Guardiola's side pick up maximum points in their next two games, the loser of the the blockbuster clash at Stamford Bridge could be all but out of the title race.

However, Chelsea can leapfrog the Reds and close the gap on City to three points if they beat Brighton on Wednesday.
