Mason Mount explains his Chelsea goal celebration with Ben Chilwell following Liverpool win

Match-winner Mason Mount has lifted the lid on what his celebration was all about following Chelsea's 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield last night.

The Chelsea academy graduate netted the only goal of the game just three minutes before half time to seal a return to winning ways for the Blues and lift them back into the Premier League's top-four, opening up a four-point gap on Liverpool in the process.

It was nothing more than what the Blues' performance deserved as they dictated the contest for the majority of the 90 minutes, with Edouard Mendy rarely called into action between the sticks.

As well as lifting themselves up into the top-four, it also inflicted a fifth successive home league defeat on Liverpool for the first time in their history, meaning the Blues left Anfield with more than just three points in tow.

Whilst Mount delivered an outstanding performance in the attacking-midfield role, one of the biggest talking points following the full-time whistle was what his celebration was all about.

After sprinting over to the near-side, the former Derby County loanee hunched over slightly and started moving his arms about and did the Frankenstein celebration. He also pretended to fire a fireball into Ben Chilwell's chest, after the former Leicester City man joined him for the celebration in front of the empty Anfield Kop.

Unsurprisingly, he was asked what it was all about after the game and he revealed that it was pre-planned between himself and Chilwell because of defender Kurt Zouma's love for watching Japanese Anime cartoons.

"We take a lot of flights to away games and me and Chilly [Chilwell] sit behind Kurt Zouma on the plane and he’s always watching Anime cartoons and we always watch it from behind him, so that was the celebration," Mount told Sky Sports.

"I said to Chilly, if I score or he scores, we do it and obviously I scored today and we did it and it was for Zouma as well."

On the three points and his personal performance, Mount added: “[It was a] massive win. Look, every game now is big, we need to get as many points now as we can to keep pushing up the table.

"We want to finish as high as we can, we’ve got the team to do it, we’re on a good run at the moment and we need to keep going, that’s the focus at the moment.

“I just try to give my best, performance-wise, if I’m starting or come off the bench, I try to do my best for the team. I feel like everyone recently has been really together, been putting really good performances together.

"Hopefully that continues and we keep pushing, but I’m happy today to get a goal.”
