Mason Mount celebrates Chelsea Champions League triumph with brilliant social media throwback

Mason Mount's killer pass to Kai Havertz was the difference between Chelsea and Manchester City in Porto on Saturday evening.

The German rounded Ederson in the City goal before tucking home to give the Blues a 1-0 lead. Chelsea held on for the win before the celebrations started in style.

Mount's assist for the winning goal was an expert 30-yard pass directly into Havertz's path and the rest, as they say, is history.

With Mount joining Chelsea aged just six, there are few players more aware of the history of the club as the youngster proved on Saturday night when he mimicked Didier Drogba's famous 'steering-wheel' celebration on the pitch at the Estadio do Dragao.

Mount wrote on social media following the European triumph that this is what 'dreams are made of' as he ran towards the Blues supporters holding the trophy aloft.

The 22-year-old also posted on Twitter a picture of him as a youngster playing for Chelsea's youth team alongside one of him hugging the Champions League trophy with the caption "How it stared, How it's going."

Mount will now have a few well-deserved days rest with his family before linking up with the England national team ahead of the European Championships this summer.

The midfielder will be joined in Gareth Southgate's provisional 33-man England squad by Chelsea teammates Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

The England boss is set to trim the squad to the final list of 26 by Tuesday, June 1, with James facing stiff competition for his place.

Defeated Champions League finalist Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all vying with the Chelsea man for the right-back spot in Southgate's final squad.

Chilwell and Mount are almost certainly assured of their places with Mount a near-guaranteed started for England's first match in Euro 2020 against Croatia on Sunday, June 13.
