Mason Greenwood reveals his favourite skill move inspired by Brazilian Ronaldo

Mason Greenwood has revealed how Ronaldo Nazario has inspired him to improve as a football during a recent fan Q&A session on Manchester United's website.

The 19-year-old forward is currently with the club's first team for pre-season training in Surrey as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 's men prepare for season ahead.

Ronaldo is considered one of the greatest footballers of all-time after a stellar playing career that saw him win the Fifa World Cup with Brazil in 2002.

Greenwood now says that the former Real Madrid striker influenced him as a forward and inspired him to master one of his trademark moves.

“My favourite skill move was the stepover and I still use it to this day,” the Manchester United attacker said on the club's official website.

“It’s my favourite skill move. I used to watch the Brazilian Ronaldo, as he would always pull one out on the goalkeepers and defenders.

“I used to practice at the parks and stuff and used to do it in training sessions, then that would lead on to games.

“And, now, it’s just stuck with me, it’s a little skill move that I practice.”

United fans have become accustomed to watching the youngster develop a habit of attempting stepovers in order to create space for himself and take on a shot.

The England forward has an important season ahead of him, and with the arrival of Jadon Sancho he will need to step-up his game another level in order to deal with the extra competition in his position.

But Greenwood is not fazed by the task ahead, telling United Daily during preseason training that it's going to be "my biggest season yet."

"Obviously we brought a new player in and it's good to have some good competition in the team. Obviously he's a fantastic player and we've got to push more."
