Mason Greenwood delivers three-word James Garner verdict as Manchester United youngster shines

Mason Greenwood has heaped praise on James Garner as the young midfielder shone in Nottingham Forest's 1-0 win over Cardiff City.

The midfielder, on loan from Manchester United, scored the only goal of the game when he turned in Cyrus Christie's low cross to secure an important win for Chris Hughton's underperforming Forest side.

Garner has made a big impact since joining Forest on loan in January and his United teammate Greenwood has been a vocal supporter.

Posting on Twitter after Forest posted a picture of Garner celebrating, Greenwood summed up his thoughts succinctly.

"What a player," he said, followed by a flame emoji.

The goal was the 19-year-old's second since joining Forest, having become a key player in midfield for new manager Hughton.

Garner's loan is his second of the season after struggling to make much of an impression at Watford during the first half of the campaign.

The youngster recently praised Forest boss Hughton for his management, revealing how grateful he was to be working under the 62-year-old.

Speaking to United's official website, Garner says he is appreciative of the manager's open-door policy at Forest.

He said: "The first conversation I had with him, he said that his door is always open anytime I need him. He’s been very good for me.

"Any little problem I’ve got I can go straight to him which is very helpful. As a player, with a manager like Chris, it’s very helpful and I will always be grateful for working under him."

United are reportedly set to run the rule over Garner in pre-season after his loan ends before deciding what is next for his development.
