President Trump took off his mask and told crowds "I'm feeling great" in his first public event today since he was diagnosed with coronavirus.
Donald Trump spoke from the White House balcony at an event called "a peaceful protest for law and order" and claimed coronavirus is 'disappearing'.
Crowds chanted "we love you" as Mr Trump insisted he was feeling great after his four-day stint in hospital after he tested positive for the virus on Thursday, October 1.
He said: "I'm feeling great... We're starting very big with our rallies... because we cannot allow our country to become a socialist country,' he told the crowd.
Trump claimed coronavirus is 'disappearing' and claimed a vaccine would be 'out very soon'.
More than 7.6 million americans have been infected with the virus.
Trump was discharged from hospital on Monday with his first public appearance today seen as a first step toward resuming full campaigning next week.
Today marks nine days since he was diagnosed, meaning he may still be contagious.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention viral shedding continues for about 10 days after symptoms start in mild to moderate cases with infected individuals told to quarantine for 14 days after testing positive.
Crowds of more than 400 were packed below the Blue Room balcony with little or no social distancing.
The White House has not released the results of Trump's latest Covid-19 test, and has declined to say when he last tested negative.
A White House spokeswoman said on Friday that Trump would be tested for Covid-19 and would not go out in public if it was determined he could still spread the virus.
Trump, who has campaigned on a law-and-order theme during recent months of sometimes violent protests for racial justice, told Saturday's gathering that the Republican Party had the support of America's police forces.
"We have law enforcement watching," he said. "We're on the side of right."
He also took a swipe at his political opponent Joe Biden, calling him "sleepy Joe".
He claimed he had seen more enthusiasm for his current campaign then when he was first elected as supporters chanted "four more years".
"We cannot allow out country to become a socialist nation.
"We cannot let that happen.
"If the left gains power, they will launch a nationwide crusade against law enforcement."
