Police are appealing for information after masked thugs threatened a family with a crowbar and machetes in a terrifying robbery in Trafford .

A group of armed men forced their way into a house on Dunham Road in Warburton.

They threatened a family - including two young children - inside the property before stealing the family car a number of personal belongings.

The car was later recovered in Partington .

It is thought there were around four men involved, police said.

Detectives from GMP’s Stretford CID office are investigating the incident, which happened at around 9pm on Monday September 16, and are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.

As a result of enquiries so far, two warrants have been executed and a number of items recovered.

A 32-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of robbery before being released on bail.
