Masked thug tried to drag man from motorbike in bungled robbery

A masked thug tried to drag a man from his motorbike at traffic lights during a botched robbery.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, had stopped at traffic lights on Scotland Road heading towards the Liverpool entrance of the Wallasey Tunnel when the terrifying attempted robbery happened.

Police said as his vehicle came to a stop a man appeared and tried to pull him from his machine during the sickening incident at around 5.30pm on Wednesday, March 4.

But the brave victim managed to thwart his attacker and rode off after the struggle.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "A struggle followed before the offender, who is believed to have appeared from the junction with Silvester Street, made off and the victim, a man in his 50’s, managed to ride away."

The attacker is described as a white man, around 5ft 6in tall, of slim build, in his early 20’s, wearing a grey and red hoody and a scarf covering his face.

An investigation is ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 quoting ref. 20000140096 or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111.
