Masked thieves steal four-figure sum from Scots supermarket in smash and grab raid

Police Scotland are appealing for information after three masked men stole a four-figure sum of cash from a supermarket in the Borders .

The break-in is believed to have taken place at 1.30am on Sunday, when the men - wearing black clothes, gloves and balaclavas - forced their way into the Morrisons in Mart Street, Hawick.

The men then got into a dark hatchback in Earl Street and made off.

Officers have asked anyone with information to contact Police Scotland .

Inspector Stephen Granger said: "We are appealing to members of the public who may have information in relation to the break-in at Morrisons supermarket in the early hours of this morning.

"After stealing a quantity of cash, the men left the store and headed in the direction of Earl Street where they got in a dark coloured hatchback vehicle and drove off.

"Although this happened during the night, we are appealing to anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area.

"I would also ask those who have any dashcam footage that will assist with our investigation to get in contact with officers."

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact police, quoting the incident number 0227 of March 8.
