Masked Singer's Viking reveal stuns panel as Morten Harket unmasked after singing his own song

The Masked Singer panel were left in a state of disbelief on Saturday night when Viking was unmasked as Morten Harket, a week after singing his OWN song.

Rewind to last weekend and Viking took to the stage to perform a spinetingling version of A-ha's Take on Me but rather than guide the panel towards it possibly being the 80s group's frontman Morten, it prompted Rita Ora to guess Ben Adams as his group, A1 took their cover of Take on Me to number 1 in 2000, while Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson also saw his name thrown into the mix.

But Masked Singer fans at home were still sure it was Morten, with him doing Take on Me being the best twist ever.

And they proved to be spot on as, after Viking received the lowest number of votes from the studio audience who had their say on the seven remaining acts, it was indeed Morten behind the mask.

His take on Coldplay's The Scientist wasn't even to see him through to next week but even after being given a last ditch to guess his identity, none of the panel mentioned Morten, so they were totally dumbfounded by his big reveal.

Host Joel Dommett remarked: "He's the only person on the show to have ever sang their own song."

New panellist Mo Gilligan admitted: "I was so perplexed."

The panel couldn't believe Morten was Viking (ITV)

When asked by Joel why he did The Masked Singer, Morten replied: "I needed to be kicked out of my comfort zone and I have been.

"It was fun to start to become the character. I'd never done anything like that before; I'd never done theatre, films...nothing."

Rita Ora, who came in for a lot of stick for her hair do, told the now 61-year-old: "Can I just say, you look fantastic."

Morten wasn't the only celeb to get unmasked on Saturday's show as, just like many viewers predicted, Lenny Henry turned out to be Blob.
