Masked Singer's Sophie Ellis-Bextor even 'rumbled' by her own baby son as she gets voted out first

Eliminated Masked Singer star Sophie Ellis-Bextor has revealed that even her own baby son 'rumbled' her own identity as she appeared on the show on Saturday night.

After crowning Nicola Roberts, in the disguise of Queen Bee, as its first winner earlier this year, the insane talent show delighted fans by returning for series 2 on Boxing Day.

One of the first singers in action was Alien and within seconds of her opening her voice to sing, many viewers correctly identified her as Murder on the Dancefloor singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, following on from VT clues about a 'crime scene' and 'trip the light fantastic' - the name of one of Sophie's albums.

But it was her accent as she performed Dua Lipa's Don't Start Now that was the big giveaway, meaning, while all the panel were shocked at her reveal, fans at home's suspicions proved to be right as Alien was the first act to be voted out.

And, breaking her silence following her exit, Sophie said even her one-year-old son had a firm inkling it was her.

She tweeted: "Yes so as most of you guessed it was me & she in #themaskedsinger.

"Even my one year old pointed at the telly and shouted ‘mummy!’ when I started singing in the alien suit!

"Anyhoo a fun and trippy way to spend a few days and enjoy the rest of the show- no idea who anyone is!"

The identities of Masked Singer acts in the new series has already sparked plenty of theories from viewers, with JLS star Aston Merrygold the big shout for Robin and many people convinced that Sausage is Stacey Solomon.

The new series continues on ITV on Saturday, January 2.
