Masked Singer's Davina McCall says she knows who finalists are but won't tell daughter

Davina McCall says that although she knows the secret identities behind each finalist on The Masked Singer, she's not even willing to tell her own daughter.

The hit ITV show is recorded months in advance, meaning that Davina, along with judges Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan, already know who is behind the elaborate costumes.

And her knowledge seems to have spurred her daughter Holly to want to know early.

“Holly, my eldest daughter, watched it with me a couple of times before she went back to uni," Davina told The Sun.

"She was like, ‘Is it blah blah?’. I was like, ‘Holly, you know me so little’."

“She said, ‘I’m your daughter’. I went, ‘No, you can’t pull that cord, like, it doesn’t work like that. It ruins it, it would ruin it if you knew’," she added.

It comes as Jonathan Ross confirmed that the hit ITV show will begin filming a third series later this year.

The hugely successful second series will end this weekend with a spectacular final as three famous faces are unmasked who have performed as Sausage, Robin and Badger over the last eight weeks.

Since launching with 4.2 million viewers on Boxing Day, The Masked Singer has increased audience every week by at least 200,000 viewers to achieve its biggest audiences yet for the semi-final last Saturday - with 7.1 million tuning in on the night and many more watching on catch up service ITV Hub.

This episode was TV’s biggest audience, outside of news and sports, so far this year.

As part of an interview in Saturday's Daily Mirror, judge Jonathan Ross confirmed that the show will return for a third series and hinted the line up is set to stay the same with host Joel Dommett and judges Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall and Rita Ora seemingly signed up.

Asked if there was anything he could say about the if the show would return, Jonathan said: “Okay, well we're doing a third series. And I'm doing the third series. And I shouldn't speak about who the other judges are but you're not going to be surprised.

“I'm looking forward to doing it because it's a fun way to spend the evening."
