Masked Singer's Blob sparks uproar from fans who hit out at panel for missing 'obvious' identity

The Masked Singer's Blob has sparked uproar from fans who flooded Twitter with criticism of the panel for failing to pick up on his 'obvious' identity.

The new series of the ITV show returned with its fourth episode on Saturday night with Blob in action against Harlequin, Bush Baby, Viking and Grandfather Clock, who ended up being unmasked as Glenn Hoddle after losing the sing-off to Viking.

Blob's over of Cameo's Word Up was enough to earn the studio audience's vote and see him through to next week, with newcomer to the panel Mo Gilligan saying his voice reminded him of music legend Nile Rogers.

Going off Blob's height and clues about him being a teacher, Davina McCall once again guessed at Inbetweeners star Greg Davies.

Rita Ora said she was "exhausted" by her "brain going all over the shop" as to who Blob might be but ended up throwing Frank Skinner's name into the ring, after hearing clues about Blob working with big names in his music career.

Frank of course teamed up with David Baddiel and The Lightning Seeds for huge number 1 and eternal football classic Three Lions.

Jonathan Ross said he was convinced Blob was "an older person" and threw Stephen Fry's name into the mix but one name any of them failed to mention was Lenny Henry.

And that is the person absolutely loads of people watching Masked Singer at home believe Blob to be, as well as him being a frontrunner with bookies too.

One tweeted: "Are they panel deaf!?? Blob is Lenny Henry," and in agreement, another reacted: "The Blob has to be LennyHenry. Otherwise it is someone who sounds exactly like him. Remember he was a head teacher in the tv show 'Hope and Glory'.

A third posted: "Watching #MaskedSingerUK and baffled by why anyone needs the clues for Blob, biggest clue is when he opens his mouth and it’s clearly Lenny Henry.

One of the big clues given by Blob on Saturday was that he was named after a Doctor and Twitter was full of screen grabs of articles which revealed that Lenny was named after Dr Lenworth, the doctor who delivered him. Lenny's full name is Lenworth George Henry.

Lenny also played singer Theophilus P Wildebeeste in his sitcom, which ties in with the music career clue.

Another clue spotted by eagle eyed viewers in week 1 was a board with the words 'red' and 'nose' in the background of Blob's latest VT.

Lenny is one of Red Nose Day's biggest stars, which others argued was given away by his song choice for Saturday, with Little Mix covering Word Up for Comic Relief in 2014.
