Masked Singer judges predict Newcastle United players behind Doughnuts' identity - and one is right

The Masked Singer judges suspected a former Newcastle United player could be behind Doughnuts identity on the ITV show - and they were right.

Before his performance of boyband Five's 'Everybody Get Up', Doughnut gave judges a clue which pointed them towards suggestions that a former NUFC player could be behind the mask.

In the clue identity, Doughnuts said: "Things have definitely been colourful, but I have been known to be monochromatic."

And it was judge Davina McCall who immediately suggested the monochromatic clue could be a link to Newcastle United's black and white football strip.

But she later rejected the clue, guessing that Gary Lineker could be behind Doughnut's identity.

Stand-up comedian Mo Gilligan was first to guess Doughnuts' identity, predicting that Michael Owen could be behind the mask, having played for the club between 2005 and 2009.

Judges were later brought back to the suggestion that Michael Owen could be behind Doughnut's identity when they gave an additional clue to 10% off merchandise.

The judges then decided that the mention of the number 10 could be a further clue towards Michael Owen and the number on his shirt during his time with the club.

And it was later revealed that they were right as he was unmasked on tonight's show.

Jonathan Ross predicted that Alan Shearer could be behind the mask, having played for the club between 1996 and 2006.

And musician and actor Olly Alexander suggested that it could be Andy Cole.

Singer Rita Ora also steered clear of NUFC player predictions, suggesting that Wayne Rooney could be behind the mask due to being the manager of Derby County - who also play in a "monochromatic" black and white strip.

Earlier in the show, Firework has been unveiled as actress Jaime Winstone on ITV’s The Masked Singer.

The actress, who is a good friend of panellist Rita Ora, said she had done the show for her son. She performed Abba’s hit Waterloo once again after being unmasked.

None of the panel correctly guessed her identity.
