Masked Singer fans think they know the identity of octopus performer

TV show The Masked Singer is gripping viewers across Britain, with last night's (January 25) episode prompting several theories to circulate online.

The ITV programme, launched earlier this month, sees celebrities performing on stage while dressed in elaborate costumes disguising their identities.

Last night, the appearance of a colourful octopus led to a number of fans taking to the internet to guess the singer's identity, reports The Mirror.

Among the most common predictions was ex-Emmerdale actress Gemma Atkinson, while other picks include Atkinson's fellow Emmerdale stars Sheree Murphy and Lucy Kate Pargeter.

The Emmerdale theme stems from the fact the secret singer was seen in welly boots on the pre-performance video package. In the same footage, reference was made to "the jungle", setting in motion guesses linked to former I'm A Celebrity contestants.

Panellist Jonathan Ross said: "You were wearing wellies and referenced a farm. You have to be from Emmerdale".

All of the above Emmerdale actors also appeared on Ant and Dec's famous reality show set in Australia.

Prior to those guesses, a popular suggestion was that Kylie Minogue is hiding under the octopus costume.

The judges certainly think it’s Kylie, but are they barking up the wrong tree?

We'll find out soon.
