Masked Singer fans 'crack' Knitting's identity after massive Instagram clue

Fans of the Masked Singer are convinced they've cracked the identity of contestant Knitting after spotting a potentially massive clue on Instagram. The ball of yarn lived to perform another day after making it through the sing offs on Saturday with a truly stunning rendition of Cat's Memory, prompting the judges to give a standing ovation.

While panel members have guessed it could be anyone from Cat's Elaine Paige to TV presenter Konnie Huq, it seems eagle-eyed fans Instagram have got a strong theory as to who it could be, ChronicleLive reports. After Knitting dropped a clue about crafting, none other than Step's Claire Richards posted a possible hint as the countdown to week three of the show began.

While some people have previously theorised that Knitting could be Stacey Soloman or Sara Davies due to their love of the hobby, Claire posted a short video of her crafting on her Instagram account with the caption: "Happy Saturday! This is where I’ll be for the foreseeable.” While it may seem too good to be true however, it's also worth remembering the keen crafter is also a fan of the show so it's possible she's just pulling our leg this early into the series.

Having said that though, there are other clues that point to her being being the pair of knitting needles. Previously it was thought a magpie clue was a nod to Steps' hit One for Sorrow; 2002 being the year she and bandmate H became H & Claire and a number mentioned in a riddle being the sum of 5,6,7,8.

Meanwhile on Saturday, the son of the Masked Singer's Cat and Mouse has shared a hilarious reaction to learning of their true identity. The duo, the first in the competition, failed to impress as much as some of the other competitors and so had to unveil their disguises and unveil themselves as none other than husband and wife Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp and Wham! star Shirley - in what panel member Davina called the "best reveal ever".

Martin and Shirley joked they had done it all to embarass their son Roman, who is a radio host for Capital FM. And it seems Roman himself was none the wiser as he shared his reaction on Twitter. In a series of Tweets he raged: "ARE YOU F****G JOKING #MaskedSingerUK", and then followed with "I JUST SHOUTED THE PHRASE “TAKE IT OFF” TO MY PARENTS I CANT UNDO THAT #MaskedSingerUK"

Sharing a clip of the moment they revealed their true identities, he finished with: "That’s enough internet for today…"
