Masked mugger 'stops Clontarf DART with emergency brake' and robs man at knifepoint as Gardai launch probe

Gardai have launched an investigation after a masked mugger appeared to stop a DART tram with the emergency brake and robbed a man at knifepoint.

The terrifying incident happened at Clontarf Station at around 10pm on Tuesday night.

A witness told Dublin Live he saw a masked man wearing latex gloves pull the emergency brake to stop the train from moving.

The mugger threatened the young man with a knife and snatched his wallet before fleeing the scene

A garda spokesman said: "Gardai are investigating an incident of theft which occurred on Clontarf Road, Dublin on the 31 August 2021 at approx. 10:00pm.

"No injuries were reported. No arrests have been made.

"Investigations are ongoing."
