Masked men steal sum of money after man 'ordered to the ground' during aggravated burglary

Masked men armed with weapons forced their way into a home in Co Tyrone before making off with a sum of money.

Police are appealing for information following the aggravated burglary in Aughnacloy at around 6pm on Monday, January 11, where the occupant of the Castletown Road property was "ordered to the ground" while the men searched his home.

Two of the four masked men were armed with weapons.

The victim was not injured during the "traumatic ordeal".

Detective Inspector Robinson said: "This was a traumatic ordeal for the victim who was in his own home, a place where he rightly deserves to feel safe. Thankfully, he was not physically injured.

"Our enquiries continue this morning, and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in this area yesterday evening around 6pm and saw any suspicious activity, or has information about what happened to get in touch with our detectives in Mid Ulster on 101 quoting reference number 1560 of 11/01/21."

Information can also be given on the non-emergency reporting form via  http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/

Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at  http://crimestoppers-uk.org/
