Masked men 'claiming to represent a paramilitary organisation force entry to Newtownabbey flat'

Detectives are appealing for information following a report that masked men claiming to represent a paramilitary organisation forced entry to a flat.

The incident on Mill Road, Newtownabbey was reported on Friday, December 18.

It is understood the trio searched the home and took mobiles phones from a man and woman inside before fleeing in a black Mercedes.

No injuries have been reported.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Detectives are appealing for information following the report of an incident at a flat in the Mill Road area of Newtownabbey on Friday 18th December.

"It was reported that three masked males, claiming to represent a paramilitary organisation, forced entry to the flat at around 8.20pm on Friday evening. The men conducted a search of the property before taking mobile phones from the two occupants.

"The males then left the flat and are believed to have left the area in a black coloured Mercedes car, which had been parked outside. Neither of the occupants, a man and a woman, were injured as a result of the incident.

"Anyone with any information about this incident or who may be able to help with the investigation, is asked to call detectives in Antrim on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 1875 18/12/20.
