Masked man storms into Subway with armed with pole and hurls stale milk at staff

Police are investigating after a masked man stormed into a sandwich shop in Atherton and hurled stale milk at staff.

Officers were called to Subway on Mealhouse Lane in Atherton on Friday afternoon to reports of a disturbance.

It is understood a man wearing a balaclava went into the shop carrying some sort of pole.

He is said to have become aggressive, and threw liquid - believed to be gone off milk - at staff before leaving.

No one was hurt during the incident, but those inside at the time were reportedly left shaken by what happened.

A spokesman for GMP said: "Shortly before 3.25pm on Friday, police were called to the Subway on Mealhouse Lane in Atherton to reports of a disturbance.

"Further enquiries have established that a man wearing a balaclava entered the premises before throwing a liquid substance – which is believed to be stale milk - at staff.

"Nobody is believed to have been physically injured during the incident."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
