Masked gang burst into Inverclyde home and terrorise woman and two kids in shocking robbery

A woman and two kids were left extremely shaken after three masked men forced entry into a family home in an Inverclyde robbery.

Police were called to the home on Leven Road in Wemyss Bay after the incident at around 8pm on Wednesday, October 9.

Three men stole a double figure-sum of cash from the property while a 62-year-old woman and her two kids were in the property.

All three occupants were left unharmed in the raid but it has been described as a “terrifying experience” for the family.

Officers are now appealing for information on the three men.

All three have been described as being approximately 20-30-years-old and speaking with Scottish accents.

One was around 6ft tall, wearing dark clothing including a hooded top and grey trainers.

The second has been described as being approximately 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing a green t-shirt, dark hooded top and grey trainers.

The third man has been described as being around 5ft 9ins and wearing dark clothing and grey trainers.

Police Scotland Detective Inspector David Wagstaff said: “These three men subjected the occupants of the house, including a woman and two children, to a terrifying experience in their home.

"We are making every effort to identify them and would urge anyone with information to come forward as soon as they can.

"Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity or vehicles around the area is asked to make contact, along with anyone who may have dashcam footage or private CCTV which could assist our investigation."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Any information about the incident in Wemyss Bay can call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 3641 of October 9, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
