Masked attacker refused entry over social distancing smashed WAG Chantelle Heskey's bar with bricks

A bar owned by the wife of former England and Liverpool player Emile Heskey was attacked by a masked man who was refused entry over social distancing rules.

Parea in Alderley Edge, owned by Chantelle and business partner James Golden, had recently reopened and was following COVID-19 guidelines when a man is thought to have taken exception at being turned away.

The man later returned in the early hours of last Sunday with his hood up, wearing a PPE mask and blue gloves, and put two bricks through two windows.

Chantelle and James reopened the bar the following afternoon and now want to put the incident behind them.

James told us: "This was an isolated incident and we are not letting the actions of one individual stop us."

And he said the safety of their customers is of 'utmost importance.'

Parea, which opened in 2018, has since installed a new high-tech machine that takes temperatures as well as supporting track and trace by collecting photos and details of visiting guests.

Tables in the bar accommodate a maximum of six people with one-metre distancing in place.

After the incident Chantelle and James posted a message on Instagram.

They wrote: "We would like to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to our staff, security team and the speed of the police response to the incident that took place at Parea last night.

"We have reviewed the CCTV and can confirm that the actions taken by the individual who caused disruption to our guests and their safety was that of someone refused entry so that we could maintain our numbers and continue with social distancing."

They added: "We are taking this very seriously and are working with the police and our security team to bring the person in question to justice.

"We are pleased to confirm that we will be opening our doors at 3pm today and would like to assure all of you that we will continue to take the safety of our staff and customers extremely seriously and that PAREA is, and will continue to be a safe place for you to visit.

"We thank you for your understanding and support during this time."

The pair were flooded with messages from well-wishers following the incident.

Cheshire Police have confirmed officers were called to the bar at around 1am last Sunday and took CCTV tapes to help them identify the attacker.
