Marymass: Carters reveal plans for virtual celebration as festival makes history by moving online

Irvine Carters Society are set to keep the spirit of Marymass alive this year - by bringing the festival online for the first time ever.

The plug was pulled on the traditional August celebration earlier this year due to the covid-19 outbreak.

But organisers now want to create a virtual version of the event with the public's help.

The Carters and Marymass Festival Committee are opening up the floor to attendees to pitch their ideas.

Dillon Green of the Marymass Festival Committee said: “We’ve been working on a number of digital projects over the last few months.

“The festival is community based, and we want to provide people with content they are interested in.

"We are asking for ideas, no matter how small, to help bring the festival to life for 2020.

"We’ve looked at moving some of our traditional events online and at the feasibility of new ideas such as a podcast or new digital content.

“Now more than ever, we need to connect people and give the local community something to look forward to.

"If you have an idea or would like to help bring something to life and incorporate it as part of our Virtual Marymass 2020, please do get in touch.”

The Marymass Festival Committee can be contacted via email contact@marymassfestival.co.uk or on the Marymass Festival Facebook page.
