Maryland Governor Wes Moore Provides Update On Bridge Collapse

Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore recently shared details about the harrowing experience of a worker who narrowly escaped the collapse of a bridge following a collision with a ship. The worker recounted witnessing the ship approaching the bridge just moments before the tragic incident occurred.

Reports indicate that there were a total of eight construction workers present on the bridge at the time of the collision. As of now, six workers remain unaccounted for, while two were successfully rescued. One of the rescued workers required medical attention and was taken to the hospital, while the other worker emerged unharmed.

Governor Moore emphasized the swift sequence of events that transpired, noting that the time between the distress call and the actual collapse of the bridge was mere seconds. He described the survival of the worker who could provide firsthand information as nothing short of miraculous, given the rapid and intense nature of the incident.

According to Moore, the worker mentioned that spotting ships approaching the bridge was a common occurrence during their shifts. However, the sheer size and speed of the vessel involved in the collision were particularly alarming. The governor highlighted the critical role of precision in such scenarios, where even minor adjustments could mean the difference between a safe passage and a catastrophic event.
