Maryhill police incident: Man receives treatment after being found injured on canal path

A man has been found injured next to the canal in the Maryhill area of Glasgow this evening.

Police and emergency services raced to the scene near to the Forth and Clyde Canal on Collina Street in the area known locally as 'the Valley' around 6:55pm this evening.

An eyewitness informed Glasgow Live of the presence of at least five police officers, including a police dog handler at the scene, with a police cordon in place at the canal.

Police have confirmed that a 31-year-old man has received treatment by ambulance crews and that enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The extent of his injuries are unknown at present.

Police remain in attendance at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We were made aware of a man injured in the Collina Street area of Glasgow around 6.55pm on Wednesday, 5 May.

"The 31-year-old man has received treatment from the Scottish Ambulance Service. Enquiries are ongoing and at an early stage."
