WASHINGTON _ Former Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu has ruled out another run for elected office, and definitely "not ever" again for Senate.
In an interview with CQ Weekly magazine, Landrieu said: "I've pretty much closed that door. Definitely not ever again for Congress."
Landrieu lost her race for re-election against now-Sen. Bill Cassidy in 2014. But while she is closing the door, a few of her former Democratic colleagues are running again for their former seats.
Former Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh is running for the seat being vacated by Republican Sen. Dan Coats, who in turn occupies the seat he held before Bayh won it. Similarly, former Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold is running against Sen. Ron Johnson, who beat him in 2010.
Former Democratic Alaska Sen. Mark Begich, who lost to Sen. Dan Sullivan in 2014, is reportedly considering a write-in campaign to challenge Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski.
