Mary Kennedy gushed that the new man in her life ‘Tom’ has been supporting her at her Dancing With The Stars shows.
The recently retired RTE presenter, 65, added that she hasn’t had time to watch Nationwide yet due to her busy rehersal regime.
Asked whether it will be strange when she does sit down and watch it for the first time she said: “I haven’t had a chance to see any of the programmes since Christmas.
“Whenever I watch it and Anne is presenting, it doesn’t feel strange so I don’t think it will.”
Meanwhile, speaking of her replacement, Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh, she said: “I am delighted [for Blathnaid]. I am not precious about who takes over when I have retired.”
Mary, who scored the lowest of the girls on Sunday, with 13 points, said she has a new lease of life since taking up the dance show.
She added: “I actually cannot answer the question of what it has been like to have retired from Nationwide because I went straight into this.
“I have enjoyed the physicality of it and learning a new skill.”
“It’s all good, it’s fine I consider myself to be at a very nice stage in my life because I am fit and healthy and enjoying this journey.
“So the whole family is loving it.”
And dancing with reigning champion pro dancer John Nolan, she went on to tease: “And we have something completely different next week.”
Mary said she is loving the costumes and joked that they are great for sucking you in.
And commenting on the huge reaction she received about her legs in week one, she said she felt like she has imposter syndrome when she saw herself on the front page of the newspapers.
“I felt like I had imposter syndrome because Glenda’s[Gilson] legs go on forever.
“I was surprised that people were commenting on my legs and I was surprised that we made the front pages.”
And despite keeping tight lipped about her new beau since revealing she is loved up again in recent weeks, she told that he has been enjoying watching her on the hit RTE show.
She said: “Oh, he has been, yeah. And he was impressed, very much so.”
