The TV chef has nurtured a close bond with the Royals and joined forces with the Duchess of Cambridge for A Berry Royal Christmas.

Weighing in on the controversial move, the baker moaned it was "very sad" the couple have decided to take a step back from their positions as Senior Royals.

Mary, 84, was grilled over the Royals' latest movement by chat show host Lorraine Kelly on Thursday.

Full of fondness, Duchess of Cambridge Kate shared Mary was one of Prince Louis' first words because he recognised the TV chef on her cookbook in the kitchen.

She joined the stars voicing their opinions about Prince Harry and Meghan's decision.

But it's no surprise as it has been all everyone could talk about since Meghan and Harry made their plans to bow out of the limelight public in an unexpected statement on Wednesday on Instagram .

The statement read: "We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen."
