Marvin Lewis still wants Bengals to fix their offensive line

Former Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis made quite the splash as a broadcaster for the AAF.

He’s also making the rounds as an analyst on other platforms.

Appearing on ESPN this past week, the topic of the AFC North naturally came up and Lewis had some advice for the team, according to Dave Clark of the Cincinnati Enquirer:

Asked about the state of his former team, the Bengals, Lewis offered the following: “They’ve got to go and fix the offensive line. The offensive front will be a big focus for the Cincinnati Bengals to continue to lean on Joe Mixon’s abilities, and the abilities of Giovani Bernard, A.J. Green and the guys they have. … Offensively, I think, we’ve got to go and restructure, retool the offensive line a little bit. I said, ‘We.’ Excuse me! Excuse me! (Laughs.)

Like him or not, the “we” slip up on live television was a funny moment.

Lewis isn’t wrong and at the end of the day, he likely wasn’t the guy deciding Andrew Whitworth wasn’t worth getting into a bidding war over, for example.

Then again, Lewis was the coach in charge who didn’t give a guy like Christian Westerman playing time.

No matter where the blame falls, the Bengals have to groom Billy Price in the middle while addressing the two spots next to him on the right. If they can’t, the Zac Taylor era could stumble out of the gates.
