After welcoming son Blake in October, Marvin says he and wife Rochelle feel their family is complete. The pop star couple, who also have two daughters, Alaia-Mai, eight, and Valentina, four, celebrate a decade of marriage next summer...
How is little Blake?
He’s amazing, sleeping and eating well. People say after
a third child it’s naturally more crazy, but he fitted into our life. My daughters have a lot of energy and absolutely love him. They really mother him.
Were you pleased that there’s now another male in your family?
We’re so happy we’ve got a son. He’s completed the family. It’s very female dominated at home, so it’s nice to have a little bit of back-up. When Blake’s older, it’ll be easier for me to win the TV remote battles!
What’s best about being a dad?
It’s the love you can’t explain until you have kids. You worry whether you’re going to be able to love another one as much as the others, but it doubles and triples. We have amazing kids who bring so much happiness. My eldest is sweet and sensitive. She leaves me little notes. If
I’m at work and don’t get to do bedtime, she’s so caring and asks if I’m OK and whether I’ve eaten.
Are you a cool dad?
Hmm… I don’t know. Alaia’s friends have seen that her mum and dad were in pop bands. So
I think for her it’s cool when
it suits her. When JLS are playing the O2 Arena and she wants tickets for her mates, Dad can sort it out. That might be when I’m cool dad.
Would you like to have any more children?
No, I can safely say we’re finished.
Do you make time for date nights with Rochelle?
Yeah, we had one recently for the first time in ages. We got the kids to school and went to a restaurant. Before all of this [lockdown] craziness we’d try and do that once a week. It’s a while since we’ve had time to be just Marvin and Rochelle rather than Mum and Dad.
It’s your 10th wedding anniversary next summer. Planning anything special?
Definitely. We want another wedding, a vow renewal, so we’re making plans. It would be great for the kids to be there. We want a big party.
Are you excited about the upcoming JLS tour?
Yes, 100%. We had a little taste last February when we announced the tour. It was strange being back in JLS mode, but lovely to be with the boys and see the fans again.

Thanks. It’s summer vibes with lots of colour and some layering pieces for when it’s colder. My own style has changed a lot.
I’m glad to see the back of those JLS deep V-neck T-shirts – they pretty much showed off our belly buttons!
