Marvin Harrison on Terrell Owens not making the Hall of Fame: 'The person who was supposed to get in got in'

March 03--Marvin Harrison will be inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton this summer.

Terrell Owens will not.

And that's the way it should be, as far as Harrison is concerned.

"The person who was supposed to get in got in. And that was me," Harrison told the Talk Of Fame Network on Thursday. "If he didn't get in, that's his problem. He can talk all that other [junk] like he's been doing. That's on him. But I'm in. My jacket is gold. I will look in the rear view for nobody.

"So he can get his [butt] in whenever he gets in ... if he gets in. If he doesn't get in too bad. The hell with him.''

Harrison and Owens came into the league in 1996 and became two of the best receivers in NFL history. Harrison retired after the 2008 season with 1,102 receptions (third all-time), 14,580 receiving yards (seventh) and 128 touchdown receptions (fifth). Owens retired after the 2010 season with 1,078 receptions (sixth all-time), 15,934 receiving yards (second) and 153 touchdown receptions (third).

Harrison was snubbed in his first two seasons of hall eligibility; this was Owens' first year of eligibility. One writer who voted said he didn't make Owens a first-ballot pick because "he was so disruptive."

That word would never have been used to describe Harrison -- which makes his strongly worded comments on Thursday even more surprising.

"If it was up to me, Isaac Bruce, Reggie Wayne ... I can go and list ... Moss ... Randy Moss ... can all get in," Harrison said when asked if he thought Owens belonged in the hall. "They got a lot of class with them. If they didn't get in the same time I got in, they'd of had a better approach about it as opposed to this guy."
