Marvin Bartley in Scotland slip of the tongue as Michael Stewart questions pundit's new allegiances

With the Tartan Army locked out of Scotland's do-or-die playoff against Serbia on Thursday night, the national team need all the support they can get from back home.

And it looks like Steve Clarke's men may have a new fan among their ranks to cheer them on as they go to battle in Belgrade.

Previewing the enormous clash with a place at Euro 2020 at stake, Sportscene pundit Marvin Bartley's Freudian slip suggested his allegiances may now lie north of the border now that the Livingston captain has forged a solid career at the Lions and Hibs before them.

Fellow pundit Michael Stewart began the analysis and said: "It's going to be difficult, there's no doubt about that, away in Serbia. Although, their home record has not been particularly great."

Bartley agreed: "It's going to be a difficult game as Michael said, there's no doubt about it. But Scotland, they're getting used to winning now, and that's the huge thing.

"They've got massive, massive players, got big players coming back. (Kieran) Tierney's going to be in the squad again, hopefully he gets through tonight's game with Arsenal unscathed.

"I think Lyndon Dykes is going to be massive in this game, he's a throwback number nine. Every time he plays for Scotland, none of the international teams like playing against him. He'll be key to us winning this game."

Stewart said: "Did you hear the way Marv said 'us' there? He did, he's cheering us on."

And host Steven Thompson replied in shock: "Did he say 'us'? The Englishman says 'us'?"

"Let Scotland get through first then we'll talk about it," Bartley replied.

That prompted Stewart to retort: "He's a glory hunter!"
